This approach has improved the preparedness of Swedish authorities to respond to newer generations of synthetic cannabinoids, which remain among the most commonly encountered classes of new psychoactive substances.
The same strategy can be extended to other categories of NPS. Ongoing collaborative efforts now include investigations using cell-based systems to evaluate compounds acting on opioid, serotonergic, and GABAergic receptors.
