France and England: When Will the Rain Return?
A look at this week’s autumn weather, the outlook for next week, and the next possible spell of rain affecting both sides of the Channel.
The picture this week
Early November is bringing a largely settled spell to much of southern England and parts of northern France. High pressure is helping to keep many places dry, with plenty of cloud at times, chilly mornings and the possibility of mist or fog. The picture is not identical everywhere: Atlantic weather fronts can still bring rain to western and northern areas.
For a useful comparison, the forecasts for London and Rennes give us two reference points. They cannot represent every region of either country, so readers should check their local forecast before travelling.
| Date | Southern England / London | Rennes, Brittany |
|---|---|---|
| Wed 4 Nov | Cloudy, around 11°C; low rain risk | Cloudy, cool morning; forecast dry |
| Thu 5–Fri 6 Nov | Mostly cloudy and generally dry; highs around 11°C | Mainly dry with some brighter intervals |
| Sat 7 Nov | Showers become more likely, especially afternoon and evening | Mostly cloudy; lower rain risk in this forecast |
| Sun 8 Nov | Brighter spells; lower daytime rain risk | Drizzle possible |
| Mon 9 Nov | Rain risk may increase later, particularly overnight | Drizzle or rain looks more likely |

So, when will it next rain in France and England at the same time?
The best current candidate is around Sunday 8 November into Monday 9 November 2026, when drizzle is forecast in Rennes and the chance of rain may rise again in southern England, particularly later on Monday or overnight. However, the timing is not yet firm enough to say that rain will fall in both places during exactly the same hour.
There may be an earlier overlap on Saturday 7 November: showers are indicated around London, but the Rennes forecast is comparatively dry. That makes Saturday a less convincing match for these two locations.
Our weather-watch verdict: Keep an eye on Sunday night and Monday, 8–9 November. It is the next plausible window for rain in both southern England and Brittany, but check updated local forecasts as the date approaches.
What about next week?
The broader outlook suggests that the weather could become more changeable during the second week of November as Atlantic systems try to move back in. That could bring renewed spells of rain, especially to western France and western or northern parts of the UK. It is too early to identify a dependable nationwide “same-time rain” date for France and England: rain can cross one region while another remains dry.
